Artist Statement
Painting is my passion. I create works that are full of vivid color and open the imagination of the viewer. Working with oil paint provides me the freedom to change a piece several times before it dries. Exploring color and creating new shades is very rewarding to me. Each of my compositions are based on internal forms and shapes that emerge from my mind. Most of my abstract painting is improvisational. A lot of failed attempts can be later used as a base for future renderings. However, when I'm painting and in the "zone", a sense of a quiet calm overtakes me and I'm on auto pilot watching my hands create.
Viewing other art exhibitions are a real joy. Talking and sharing stories with my contemporaries are key to my growth. Sometimes new ideas or inspirations are born out of these interactions. A collector once asked me 'what can you bring to the table?' If I were sitting in front of an Old Masters Abstract Tribunal of Pollock, de Kooning, Kandinsky and Rothko, I would tell them that I'm striving to bring more depth and color to the work and to name the painting that fits with the image. This is my core of conviction.
